Olaista Pools by Diango Hernández are works that envision places as destinations for painterly iconographies. They will be presented at the spectacular panoramic setting of Vista Ostuni.
The project explores landscapes that belong to the visual imagination of a renewed Grand Tour for the twenty-first century. These pools are imaginary yet intentionally believable places, emerging from a visionary realm that only such an extraordinary architectural and symbolic typology can evoke.
Originally conceived as painted swimming pools and later transformed into prints, the Olaista Pools express, through Diango Hernández's distinctive painterly language, a suspended sense of time—a cinematic landscape that invites viewers to follow the movement of water and to enter a space where memory, desire, and imagination converge.
Swimming pools have long occupied a powerful place in cinematic culture, becoming existential settings where one seeks refuge, reflection, and escape. As one memorable line suggests: "I'm drifting away... here, in the swimming pool."
For this occasion, the exhibition will present a selection of prints alongside a new painting created specifically in dialogue with the architecture of Vista Ostuni.
Vista Ostuni
Vista Ostuni, a five-star luxury hotel, is part of the Vista collection, a hospitality concept created by Bianca and Luigi Passera, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer respectively. Their vision is to bring exceptional luxury experiences to destinations where they have not previously existed. Following the opening of Vista Verona and Vista Ostuni, Vista Pisa is scheduled to open in 2029.
Each boutique hotel combines contemporary interior design with a distinctly Italian identity and an international outlook, offering bespoke services in which respect for every guest and their privacy is paramount. Excellence in service, innovation, and a strong commitment to sustainability are the defining values of the brand, reflected across all properties of the Group, which became a Benefit Corporation in 2021.
Vista Ostuni occupies the restored former Manifattura Tabacchi, a fourteenth-century landmark deeply rooted in the history and identity of the region. A member of The Leading Hotels of the World, the hotel overlooks the extraordinary Plain of Monumental Olive Trees, just moments from the celebrated White City of Ostuni and with sweeping views toward the Adriatic Sea.
The property features 28 spacious guest rooms and suites, a restaurant, two bars, a panoramic rooftop, three swimming pools, a wellness and spa area, and a fully equipped Technogym fitness center. The experience is distinguished by the harmonious integration of architectural heritage and contemporary design, highly personalized service, and a tangible commitment to environmental responsibility.
The estate extends across three hectares of landscaped grounds designed to preserve and celebrate the native Mediterranean vegetation. Its pursuit of LEED certification further demonstrates Vista Ostuni's commitment to a more sustainable model of hospitality that creates lasting value for both the local community and the environment.
